Curiosity Kills

By: Blooddeathsama

It was the frostiest of days in London, mixed with the wind the weather could freeze you to death in a matter of minutes. It was even difficult for ships to dock as the waters were partially frozen. Only a single passenger ship named the "Marionette," was able to sail through the wicked, sheeted ice without an issue. With her impressive hull she tore her way to the docks where many families awaited to see their loved ones come home.
Still on board, the young Kamuel picked up his traveling bag and went to exit his room when the captain of the ship stopped him in his tracks. "Your leaving already friend? Pity…I was hoping you would join me in sailing to the U.S."
"You know I would be tickled pink to travel with ya around this huge planet of ours Rodger. But I get homesick too…, plus it's me annual holiday back home. Can't miss that now can I?" Kamuel smiled, hiding a yawn underneath his sleeve before making his way past the burly captain. "I'll return to the Marionette in a few months…make sure ya keep me room open."
"Sure thing pal, anytime you want to join me on my travels, just hop on board!" Rodger laughed, grabbing his albino companion into a backbreaking hug before letting him leave the ship.
Kamuel's came down upon the docks with a soft thud as he jumped off the bow onto the wooden docks. He shivered as he stepped onto the fresh snow, grumbling as he silently made a note to himself to put more wrappings onto his feet after setting up camp for the night. Looking past the mobs of people he dodged his way down the cobble stone roads near the edge of town. With a crack of his back and neck he sprung up onto the top of the nearby building, landing softly as he wished not to be noticed. As he took his first breath, he began choking hoarsely. "Wha-what the bloody h-hell!?" he hacked as he looked around to find that the air around him was clouded with a thick black smog. To prevent himself from suffering any longer in the pollution, he took one of his arm wrappings and tied it around his nose and mouth. He gasped for air a few times before finally catching his breath through the makeshift filter. "Good god...first the glacial welcome then this?" Kamuel grimaced; his beautiful London had changed for the worst without him knowing. As much as the man loved new discoveries, he did not enjoy change to what he was used to.
Shaking off the realization the man lowered himself to all fours, his back quickly and painlessly went flat like a feral beast. His eyes slit as he smirked at his successful transformation. After getting comfortable in this new animalistic stance he sped forward, jumping onto each rooftop without hesitation. With his quick eyes he soon spotted an ideal place to sleep for the night on top of a colossal tower. It took but only a second before he made the jump onto a flattened area in the architecture, where no one would disturb him. With a sigh of relief he slowly returned to his upright, human stance and dropped his bag down onto the stone floor. Happily, he plopped down onto his rear and glanced around his surroundings. A simple large stone opening with a few bits of scattered hay on the floor, the archway above his head was more intricate as many religious symbols were carved into the stone. Luckily the stone was thick enough to prevent the snow and rain from coming in, this place was perfect.
